Breakfast with Carter.

We dropped Olivia at school bright and early this morning, and Carter and I returned home for breakfast. Here is the adorable view I had across the table. Yogurt and blackberries have never looked so cute :)

P.S. He doesn't mind the hand-me-down pink bib. I asked him :)

writing girl

Olivia shocked us a few nights back when she did this...

She asked me the letters of Carter's name and then wrote them on her own. We have only ever seen her write the letters of her own name. I'm sure she will be penning her first novel in a week or two ;)

Carter - 18 months

Sweet boy, you are eighteen months old now! I can hardly believe it, but it is true. Time sure flies when you are having fun! I am so sorry that there are minimal updates on your growth and development. Hopefully as you grow older, you will be okay with my shortcomings in this area and not be scarred for life by the "I'm the youngest child, therefore there is no record of my existence" syndrome. I will try and get better :) you just keep me SO busy saving you from head injuries and broken bones that sitting down to the computer doesn't happen as often anymore! Ha.

Height: 35 inches (off the chart)
Weight: 28 pounds (75th percentile)
You wear size 24 months clothes, size 6.5 shoe, and size 4 diaper.

Your communication is coming along and consists mostly of babbling consonants. You say "ah-da" for daddy and "mama" for mommy. Those are your only words. You sign please, more, and all done with a verbal cue. You also know thank you, book, and milk but do not sign those very often. We are focusing on your language development now, but I'm not worried. Your receptive language is spot-on and you follow directions well, so your verbal skills are coming. They just aren't here yet!
You walk, run, climb, and tumble without issue!

Your favorite things are to throw balls, build and knock down block towers, torment your sister by taking whatever toy she is currently interested in (true story), and reading books. You bring us any book by Sandra Boynton, but your favorites are Pajama Time and Barnyard Dance. You also love the book How Big Is Baby Elmo? I have read it at least 12 times this morning :) Another favorite thing to do is play outside. You cry most times when we must come in. Your favorite shows to watch are Curious George, WordWorld, and Mickey's Clubhouse.

Eating is one of your favorite pastimes, too! You are often the first to start meal and the last to be done. You have a wide palate of interests but LOVE blueberries, strawberries, grapes, bread, steamed peas, hot dogs, green beans, grilled chicken, Popsicles, and ice cream.

You have 8 teeth (4 on top and bottom) and 2 molars on top. Stealing toothbrushes out of our drawers is a favorite game for you, too. They are the perfect teething soother for you right now as you've got a few more molars and your incisors about to break through. Teething has disrupted your sleep as of lately, but you are still a decent sleeper. You sleep 11-12 hours at night and nap for 2-3 hours every afternoon. Sometimes if you wake at night, getting you back to sleep is a challenge. You are not unhappy, you are just awake...sometimes for hours and hours!

You are a bright light in our family with your constant smile and belly laughs! Your easy going personality and flexibility are a welcomed change for me. You play well independently, but playing with Olivia is definitely your preference. Unless your cousin Drew is around, then you and he are partners in crime!

What a fabulous eighteen moths it has been! Love you so much it hurts!  xoxox
Luckily you were not hurt when you climbed up this and it tumbled over on you...
