big girl bed!

We are over a week into Olivia sleeping in her big girl bed, so I feel safe calling the transition a success!  Watch, she will be up all night tonight :)  Ha.  Actually, she has only gotten out of bed one time since we transitioned her and that was because she wanted to take her diaper off because it was wet!  I looked on the monitor and saw she wasn't in bed and immediately sent Andy to investigate.  She was standing in her room with her pajamas off so "she could take off her wet diaper"!  Silly girl.

I am so happy that it went so well!  She seems very comfortable in it and looks like such a big girl!

We made a really big deal about it and let her go to the store to "pick out her new mattress".  In reality, I had already been there and knew which one we were going to buy, but we let her think she was picking one out!  Then we went to the store and she picked out which sheets she wanted.  Of course, she picked out a set of princess sheets that match Jordan's!  No surprise there!  They are a bit obnoxious and the pink does not match the current pink in her room, but she is happy, so who cares!
helping Daddy build her bed!
I snuck in to snap a picture of her after she fell asleep the first night.
She went to sleep without any issues and we were so proud of her!
p.s. Look how BIG she looks!!
Here is Olivia talking about her new big girl bed and being a "big kid"!  At the end she says her full name, but she always adds Louis on to the end (which is Carter's middle name!).  Guess she thinks she needs four names rather than just three ;)

Three cheers to having our girl out of the crib before she turns five (which was my mother's prediction!  Mom, you were wrong ;)

settling back in.

We are home from our trip to North Carolina and getting unpacked, organized, and back into our daily routine.  Andy went back to work today, Olivia went back to school, and Carter and I have been running errands and cleaning up around home.

I will post about our trip soon....lots of fun to report on - the beautiful mountains, sleeping among the ghosts, Olivia's first airplane ride (that she can remember), traveling stories, a dancing girl, a family trip to Ikea, way too much food, and fun with Grandma and Grandpa!

Until then, here is Olivia and Carter saying goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa. Thanks for being great hosts!  We really enjoyed our visit.

weekend recap.

We bought a fire pit this weekend and we are excited about the many evenings we can spend toasting marshmallows and roasting hot dogs!  Andy got it all put together Sunday afternoon so we tested it out.  (Sorry for the poor quality of pictures once it got dark; we only had my phone outside.)

I love haivng this boy snuggled in on my lap!

We really enjoyed ourselves until it was time to come in and something happened to set Olivia off.  I think it had something to do with wanting to play with my phone and not being allowed to, or having to take a bath, or not getting to open the door herself.  Who really knows?!  Honestly, though, some days it doesn't really matter what she gets or doesn't get; tantrums are just inevitable......

Prepare yourselves if you watch this - it is a true image of what life is like with our 2.5 year old right now.  Warning: if you don't have kids and still want to in the future, I recommend skipping it ;)  She has been especially trying lately and we are doing our best to work through it!  I know she is not the first child to throw tantrums, but it is still soooo hard!  And, just in case you were wondering, she did not get what she wanted.  Mommy can be just as stubborn as she is!

However, I don't want to end on such a dramatic (yet realistic.....we could really use some prayer!) vibe!  We also spent some time at my sister's this past weekend and are getting packed up to visit North Carolina later this week!  Olivia is SOOO excited to fly on an airplane!  However, she thinks we are flying on a C-17 and may be disappointed when Daddy is not the pilot! ha.
lunch at Red Robin!  yummy!
Drew and Jordan got scooters for their birthday and
Olivia LOVED riding on them, too!
Happy Tuesday!  Both kiddos are sleeping so I'm going to tackle some laundry and dishes! fun fun ;)

it's a video kind of day.

This morning started with Carter sleeping in and a relatively uneventful morning of getting Olivia ready and out the door for school.  Only one melt-down per hour (b.c her sock wouldn't go on right) is considered a success these days.  The sun is shining, the high is 79, and I had a nice chat over coffee with a friend after dropping Olivia at school.  March has gotten off to a great start!

I've taken a few videos the past few days and thought they would be fun to share!

First, Olivia chats with me while I was nursing Carter yesterday afternoon.  She has a pretty bad cold, so ignore the snot running out of her nose and her stuffy/congested voice.

Carter is starting to really love his jumparoo!  We have it in the dining room and he jumps his way through most of our meals!

Here Olivia was "reading" to me out of my daily devotional book and then decides to shares the prayer she learned at school.  (and her commentary of what she sees out the window cracks me up!)

Daddy tries to teach Olivia how to hop scotch!  I find it rather amusing! ha.  She is trying so hard!

Happy Thursday!!
