Pre-3K...check!

Today was the last day of school for Olivia. She has gone three mornings a week to Altus Christian Academy and it has been fabulous! She loves going and has learned so much! She knows things I never thought 3 year olds could comprehend! Definitely knowledge (both academic & Biblical) and skills that she never would have gotten by being home with me and Carter every day. We are very blessed with this little Christian school here in Altus!

Cheers to a successful year!

Olivia gets very very very shy whenever I come into the classroom, for some reason. She attaches to my leg and won't smile or talk to anyone. Her teachers assure me she is a friendly chatterbox when I'm not there. They also describe her as helpful, smart, a hard worker, and kind. Those things make me happy, but I am working on how to handle a shy personality, too. That trait is not in my personality, so I am on a large learning curve when it comes to letting Olivia be her shy self when she wants to be.

My philosophy is that she doesn't have to talk to anyone she doesn't want to, but she must always be kind. It will be a work in progress, but I'm making strides in how to let her blossom and thrive in ways that make her comfortable. Sometimes she likes to be center of attention (that I can relate with;), but mostly she likes to test the waters in social situations and be very sure of things before she commits.

You will see her demeanor change first hand in the pictures from today.....

Happy girl ready to go!

Pajama party for the last day!

In the classroom for the party. She did NOT enjoy having her name called to go up front and get her certificate. To make matters worse, her name was first to be called! Oh well, she is only three after all!

Look at that frown! Ha!

We celebrated with lunch of her choice at a restaurant and cupcakes (pink of course)!!! Our smiling girl was back! Yay :)

Olivia,
This boy, on the other hand, is not shy!
We are so proud of you for being so brave at school this year! You made new friends and learned many things! You learned several new prayers and songs and then taught them to us at home. That made us happy! You know all your letters and their sounds and are beginning to sound out words. You can write your own name, some numbers, and quite a few other letters of the alphabet. You are so smart!

Your teachers tell me all the time how helpful and obedient you are. Way to go, sweet girl! Summer will be lots of fun with swimming, camping, and a vacation to Nana & Papa's house! Your birthday is coming soon, too, and you told me that you want a princess party! We will work on making that happen! Happy last day of school. It was a great year!
