the day for love!

My morning started with snuggling in bed with my babies and heart shaped pancakes and fruit!  Andy's started at the crack of dawn to go flying! I think I got the better end of that deal ;)

Happy Valentine's Day!

a snowy morning and the Valentine conclusion.

We awoke to this great view this morning!  Olivia immediately wanted to "go sled down the hill" and "eat the snow like at Nana and Papa's".  Andy had to break the sad news that we didn't have a hill out our back door like Nana and Papa.  If the snow sticks around I will take her out to play when she gets home from school!

Andy had a delayed start to work this morning which was fabulous because he could then take Olivia to school.  That meant two things: Carter didn't have to go out into the cold and snow, and it is 10:30 and I am still in my pajamas!  Double win!

I'm sure you are all on pins and needles wondering about the Valentine conclusion:  (please do note my sarcasm;)........
I decided to go ahead with my crafty Valentine rather than buying a box of Dora Valentine's from the store.  It really wasnt' hard at all (because I made sure to choose a super simple one ;)

The goal was this:

Ours turned out a little different because we couldn't find a small heart cookie cutter.  Andy went to Wal-Mart and came home with one, but it was huge and would only allow for 6 hearts for the entire pan of Rice Krispie treats!  He wins daddy brownie points though because he then cut them all by hand with a knife!
where is his holiday spirit?!!  ;)
Olivia decorated them with pink sprinkles and I pushed the sticks in to make them like suckers.  It was a real family effort!  Olivia also did lots of coloring and sticker-placing to make the cards that I tied to each one.

Somehow I did not get a final picture! ugh.  They looked pretty much the same as the ones I found on Pinterest, but without the icing.   They turned out cute and I felt much better sending those to school this morning rather than ones we bought from Wal-Mart and stuffed into envelopes.

fancy toes!

Olivia has been completely intrigued with my freshly painted toes ever since I got back from my girls weekend in Dallas.  So yesterday I let her have her own rite of passage and introduced her to one of the fun sides of being a lady.

She chose red for her toes and purple for her fingers!  She looks so grown up, but it makes her so happy!  As we walked into school this morning she said, "Mama, I can't wait to show Ms. Rhonda my fingers and toes!"

crazy dreams, sub-par Valentines, and an unexpected visit.

Night one...."Shannon needs her red cup!  It is missing!"  -lots of crying.
Night two...."The parade is already over, Mama!  I want to see the parade"  -lots of crying
Night three..."There is a monster!  A monster for Daddy, a monster for Carter, a monster for Mommy, a monster for Olivia!  Mommy, I scared of monster!"  -lots of crying.

This is what Olivia has had to share with me each of the past three nights as I've stumbled into her room in the wee hours of the morning to see why she is crying.  It is completely bizarre!  Her waking in the night isn't anything that shocks us.  She has woken on and off for her entire life.  Sometimes she goes months without a wake-up and then she will have a week or so where she wakes up few times.  Typically a little snuggle with some rocking, and she is good to go when we put her back in her bed a few minutes later.  However, lately she has all kinds of stories to tell when I go into her room!  She is honestly upset and just rambles and rambles about these peculiar stories!

Anyone ever have a toddler who wakes from crazy dreams?  None of them concern me too much except for the monster dream!  I don't want to start that already!

I'm not really feeling the Valentines love.  I was all prepared to make some cute Valentines for Olivia's classroom and now I've lost my motivation.  I keep seeing SO MANY adorable ideas on Pinterest and I think "I can do that".  But then I start thinking about all of the supplies that I need to gather to make them and I get discouraged.  I've never been crafty, but I feel mommy-pressure to be crafty for my kid's sake.  It is ridiculous, I'm aware, but I can't help it.

Gathering those supplies would require a trip to Wal-Mart and I completely despise that store!  It is our only option here in Altus and nothing can suck the bounce out of my step like a walk inside those doors!  Come to think of it, I am blaming Wal-Mart for my Valentine slump.  Now if we had a Target, I'm sure this rant would have a totally different vibe..  I would surely be mom-of-the-year ;)

She is supposed to bring 7 Valentines on Monday for her class party.  I will let you know what I actually end up sending.

My mom called last week and said "I told Dad I was feeling a trip to Oklahoma"!  That means they will be here on Friday!  I just love my mom and her "feelings"!!   The bonus is they are stopping at my sisters in Oklahoma City and bringing her and the kids along with them!  We haven't seen any of them since Christmas so I am very very excited to see their faces!  Every morning this week Olivia looks out the window and says  "I can't see Nana and Papa's car, Mommy".  She is just as excited as I am!!

(almost) wordless Wednesday.

ahhh. if only my lunch included one of
these again today!
I need another girls weekend already!
Yes, we are still sporting our Santa pajamas!  They are so warm and cozy!

in Olivia's words...

and I quote.....
O: "You need to stop talking, Mommy.  I asking you a question!"  (umm, well excuse me, little miss bossy! We are working hard around here on who is in charge!)

O: "I have to hurry, Mommy!  Carter crying for me!"  -runs over to him-  "It's okay, Carter, Olivia is here.  What's wrong, sweet boy?"

O: "I can hardly wait!"  (as we drove into the school parking lot Thursday)

O:  "No I can't get dressed, Mommy.  I have to sit here and take a break."

O: "Where is God"
Daddy: "I don't know, Olivia.  Where is God?"
O: "He in his car driving around."

O: "Daddy, are those your panties?" as Andy takes off his flight suit.

O: "Daddy I have to tell you something!"
Daddy: "Yes, Olivia what is it."
O: "You and Carter have a penis.  Mommy and me have a gina."
-hahahah!!  Soooo glad she cleared that one up for us!
